Frank A. Mariano, 95, of Roseto, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, March 1, 2021. Born in Roseto, PA on March 22, 1925, Frank was the son of Italian immigrants Salvatore and Jennie (DeRenzis) Mariano. Shortly after graduating from Bangor High School in 1943, Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served honorably during World War II, including a deployment to Japan where he assisted in the disarmament of the Japanese military after their surrender. Frank married Helen Vrontisis on June 12, 1949, and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past June. After working as an auto mechanic at the former Eighth Street Motors for several years, Frank joined Ingersoll-Rand in Phillipsburg, NJ. Frank spent 37 years working as an assembler in the Turbo Products Division of Ingersoll-Rand before retiring in 1987. Frank was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a life member of the Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post 750 in Roseto, PA. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing bingo and cards, and watching horse racing. He treasured time spent with family, enjoying large gatherings for holidays and birthdays. In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by five children: Jennifer Long, of Easton, PA; Frank (Jan Maiale) of Herndon, VA; Salvatore (Lisa) of Saylorsburg, PA; Steven (Nancy) of Roseto, PA; and Richard (Annmarie) of Easton, PA.; eleven grandchildren: Kara Howe (Ralph), Dr. Kristin Long (Bruce Denmead), Lauren Niehaus (Brad), Ellen Mariano, Nicholas Mariano, David Mariano, Steven Mariano (Erin), Dana Mariano, Dr. Anastasia Depew (Steven), Danielle Garzillo, and Alania Mariano; and nine great-grandchildren: Daniel and Alyssa Howe; Harrison and Jensen Denmead; Natalie Niehaus; Mia, Maci, and Matthew Mariano; and Athena Depew. He is also survived by a sister, Theresa Barczynski, sister-in-law, Marie Vrontisis, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Angeline Dotoli. With Covid-19 restriction of wearing a mask and social distancing there will be a viewing is scheduled for Monday, March 8, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Ave, Pen Argyl, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Interment with Military Honors will be at the New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto, PA. Memorial donations in Frank's name may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 560 N 6th St., Bangor, PA 18013 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
