Velma M. Weidlich June 23, 1923 – November 25, 2024 Velma M. Weidlich, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at the remarkable age of 101. Velma’s life was defined by her unwavering love for her family, her zest for adventure, and her kind and giving spirit. Born on June 23, 1923, in Bethlehem, PA, Velma was the daughter of Stanley Eshbach and Madia (Muffley) Esbach. Velma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray "Ducky" Weidlich, with whom she shared many cherished years of marriage. Together, they created a life rooted in love, tradition, and service to others, building a legacy of love and togetherness. Velma was the heart of every holiday, hosting the entire family at the home she shared with Ray. Her gatherings were filled with warmth, delicious food, and the joy of togetherness, creating treasured memories that spanned generations. Her compassion extended beyond her family and into her community. Velma was a proud supporter of the March of Dimes, personally collecting donations from her neighbors to aid in the organization’s mission. Her efforts exemplified her belief in the power of small acts of kindness to make a big difference. An adventurous spirit, Velma loved traveling across the country, exploring the beauty of New England, the sunny shores of Florida, the wide-open landscapes of Texas, and the golden coasts of California. Wherever she went, she carried her deep appreciation for life’s journey. Closer to home, Velma lived with a quiet yet radiant joy, cherishing life’s simple pleasures, as they can be the most profound: sitting on her back patio, enjoying the fragrance of her garden as a gentle breeze swept through her beloved “God’s little acre.” She loved hosting family cookouts and gathering around the grill to create new memories with the people she loved most. Velma’s heart was happiest when surrounded by her devoted children: Robin Singer, Marsha Levin, Sandra (Barry) Schweitzer, Shawn (Thomas) Castellano, and Lori Pysher; her 11 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Velma took immense pride in her family, finding joy in their milestones and accomplishments. Velma’s life was a testament to generosity, connection, and love. She brought people together, championed causes she believed in, and inspired others to embrace the beauty of each day. Her legacy is a reminder that a life dedicated to love, kindness, and family is a life truly well-spent. Please join Velma’s family in celebrating her extraordinary 101 years of life. Services will be held at First United Evangelical Church (25 S 2nd St, Bangor, PA 18013) on Tuesday, December 3rd. A viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church with services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Bangor.
