Matthew J. Pinto

Matthew J. Pinto, 43, of Bangor, PA, passed away peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital in Camp Hill, PA, on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Born on September 8, 1982, he was the son of Joseph M. Pinto and Sharon (Wagner) Pinto. Matthew was a proud graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 2001, where he was the Manager of the Slaters Football Team for the seasons 1994-2000. Matthew also represented Bangor High School in the Lehigh Valley All-Star Football Classic game as Team Manager for the Colonial/East Penn and was presented with the McDonald’s Press On Award. Matthew was a graduate of Allentown Business School with a Specialized Technology Associate Degree in Personal Computers and Network Technology on January 27, 2003. Matthew currently worked as an Estimator and Project Manager for S&G Asphalt Service, Slatington, PA, and formerly for A. Scott Enterprises, Saylorsburg, PA. Matthew was a dedicated, active firefighter for 21 years of his life to Liberty Fire Company No. 2 and the Bangor Fire Department. Matthew loved Liberty Fire Company and was highly respected by his firefighter brothers and sisters. Matt was elected to many positions of responsibility, including 1st and 2nd Lieutenant, Captain of the Rapid Intervention Team, Secretary, Financial Secretary, and he chaired and served on many committees. Matthew was also the Three Company Treasurer and the Relief Association Treasurer. Matthew entered burning buildings to suppress fires without hesitation to protect the Slate Belt community. Matthew was always very respectful and very thankful for our men and women who served in the U.S. Military. On his trip to Hawaii, Matthew visited the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor to offer his respect. Matthew faced many medical challenges during his 43 years of life, but he met them with a fighting spirit, never complaining, never giving up until his heart would no longer beat. Matthew lived his life more fully than most of us and was a role model everyone should emulate. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all of his caregivers at Select Specialty Hospital for all of their caring and compassionate medical care. In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his brother, Joseph M. Pinto Jr., his sister-in-law, Crystal (Constable) Pinto, and he was a proud uncle of his nephews, USMC Lance Corporal Mason Pinto and Max Pinto. He is also survived by his uncle, Ronald Wagner; his aunt, Karen Wagner, his aunt, Sandy Wagner, cousins, Keith Wagner, Kipp Wagner, Brad Mumaw, and Jill Wagner. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Blanche Pinto, his maternal grandparents, Arlene and Warren Wagner; his uncles, Daniel Pinto, Chester Wagner, Richard Wagner, and Gary Wagner. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with Liberty Fire Company services at 12:45 PM follow by Memorial Services at 1 PM at the Fiore Funeral Home, 230 Market Street, Bangor, PA. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Matthew’s name to Liberty Fire Company No. 2, 67 North Eighth Street, Bangor, PA 18013.
